Marble and granite represent the most luxurious of natural stones used for worktops. With a timeless look, both materials lend themselves extremely well for use in Country and Shaker kitchens, as well as within more contemporary styles. As they are a natural product, no two pieces of stone will ever be the same; this ensures a truly unique look for your kitchen.
Marble and Granite Worktops: A Natural Beauty
In harmony with their innate beauty, Granite and marble worktops are available in a range of colours, effecting a kitchen worktop equal to the look you desire. Classic and timeless, marble worktops are characterised by their elegant veins and bold colours. With granite worktops, you have the choice of a polished or honed granite. Polished granite worktops have a shiny surface finish and are well-placed in traditional kitchen settings, or for a striking island worktop. Alternatively, honed granite has a non-shiny surface, which is frequently textured, and better suited for more contemporary kitchen designs.
A Durable Finish
Marble and granite worktops are extremely durable and will withstand the test of time. Initially granite requires sealing (which will need repeating after 10 years) but following this it is heat and moisture resistant so can be incorporated within all areas of the kitchen including next to the hob or oven, and around the sink. It is also very low maintenance, easy to keep clean, and resistant to most stains. Marble is also very durable, sharing most of the same qualities as granite, although it tends to be more porous and so requires more care to avoid any staining on the surface.
